Plan: This is by far the most important step to packing for a trip. Start three days before leaving for your destination, and work on strictly making lists such as shoes, tops, pants/shorts/skirts, dresses, accessories.
Style Outfits: After, or while planning create different looks for each day. I recommend looking at your schedule while doing this. Obviously you don't want to wear a formal dress while going sightseeing. So looking at your schedule or itinerary for each day is super important so you don't over or under dress.
Pack Simple Pieces: I totally recommend packing simple pieces such as a plain tee. By doing this, it can give you more versatility when choosing your outfit for the day. As simple pieces are easier to mix and match.
Roll instead of Fold: If you are anything like me and HATE wrinkles this is definitely for you. Number one if you roll your clothes instead of folding them when packing it gives you less chances of having wrinkly clothes when you arrive at your destination. Number two is you will have more room in your suit case for shoes and if you are an over packer, like me, this leaves you more room for extra clothes.
Only bring what you need: Trust me, I am the queen of over packing for trips. I never know what I am going to want to wear. The important thing to remember is that you don't need ten outfits for a three day trip. Keeping your wardrobe simple while traveling can help you with this issue.
Don't wait last minute: Biggest tip I can give! Waiting last minute to pack for a vacation is the worst decision you can make. It adds unnecessary stress, and anxiety that's not needed when preparing for your vacation. Not saying I personally have never done it, I have and certainly learned my lesson. If you are like me, I will have nightmares of forgetting things a couple days leading up to my trip, I know kind of weird. At the same time it helps me to get on top of my packing game and make lists so my nightmares don't become reality.
