These past two weeks I have had the opportunity to spend time in New York. Of course I have spent most of my days by my grandparents side. I think for any family when you get such saddening news like cancer, it helps us realize the importance of taking each day as a blessing. My grandpa had his first round of immune therapy last week. He has been obsessed with Dairy Queens ice cream cakes ( which are pretty good if I do say so myself), once his treatment ended my mom and I picked up one for him. I have always found it important to find the little things in every situation that can brighten or make the situation better. In this case it was the ice cream cake. In some cases a simple smile or cracking a joke can turn a situation around. In life your going to be handed situations that test your limits, faith, and even physical and emotional strength, but those situations are put in your life for a reason. As I always believe in " Everything happens for a reason". So take those not so easy situations and make something good from them. Now cancer is a little hard to do that with, but I have learned the importance of family and taking every day as a blessing.
