I think dealing with rejection can be one of the hardest tasks to deal with. Personally, I think it makes you take a double look at yourself. The first thing I do when I am rejected from something is look at myself and say, “what’s wrong with me”? Now let me just tell you that is the worst thing you can do when you get rejected. Instead of jumping to conclusions (which is very hard to do, I understand) you must look at it from the other side. That side is, it wasn’t meant for you in your life. Maybe one day down the road whatever you were rejected from will come back. In the moment though you should see it as it wasn’t the right timing in your life. I feel like I say this in every post but “Everything happens for a reason”. I will always try to remind myself of this quote in every difficult situation… including rejection.
With life comes several opportunities for rejection. Maybe the boy you have had the biggest crush... doesn’t feel the same, maybe your dream school denies you…maybe your picture-perfect job doesn’t work out. Maybe you don’t make your favorite sports team… whatever the rejection may be you can’t focus on the “what’s wrong with me thought” … it’s not healthy. I recommend finding a mantra to replace that negative thought. At first it will be hard to knock that negative thought out of your head, when something tough happens. That’s why I recommend finding a mantra. I have several, here are a couple of my favorite.
“Everything happens for a reason”
“She believed she could, so she did”
“Dream, Believe, Achieve”
Now you may ask how to come up with a “mantra” …? That’s the easy part. Thank goodness for the internet. It makes it easy to look up quotes or type in mantra… and you are bound to at least find one that fits your lifestyle/personality. I know several stores that sell mantra bands. Which you bet ya I have one for all my mantras. It’s a little reminder that you can wear everyday…therefore when you’re going through a tough time/moment it’s something to look at and remind you to turn those negative thoughts into positive.
